Keep the wrap on overnight. The first time you wash your tattoo after removing the wrap is the most critical part of the healing process. Use a mild soap that is free of fragrances or dyes. Lather and rinse the tattoo several times, until absolutely no sliminess or shiny spots remain on the skin. Expect that certain areas of the tattoo will need extra washing in order to achieve this important result. When finished, pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. With clean hands, apply the smallest amount of Aquaphor to the tattooed area. Rub it in carefully. Wash your tattoo twice a day for the first few days, applying ointment directly after washing. In 3-5 days your tattoo will peel like a sunburn, occasionally minimal scabbing may occur, when this happens, you can was your tattoo once a day and apply small amounts of fragrance-free lotion when it feels dry or itchy. Keep your tattoo out of the sun and tanning booths while healing. Always apply sunblock to your tattoo once it is healed, if it is exposed to the sun for long periods of time. Do not submerge your tattoo. No baths, pools, hot tubs, rivers, etc. Do not itch or pick at your healing tattoo. Do not re-bandage your tattoo. Treat your new tattoo with care.
